Banned Books Week In-Person

Join Mary and Jeff Bell Library, September 22-28, as we once again consider and explore the banning of books and censorship. 4,240 unique book titles were challenged in 2023 - a 65% surge compared to 2022. Book banning and censorship is real and around us, so it's important to dive in and consider the challenge to intellectual freedom this poses. Visit our book display to check out and read a mystery banned/challenged book or add your tally to the banned/challenged books you've read. We'll also have a prize entry opportunity just for stopping by and engaging! Also, be sure to stop by on Wednesday, September 25th from 11 am -3 pm to visit Full Court Press right outside the library as they live screen-printing custom designed shirts in recognition of this celebratory week.
